If you're considering Five Element Acupuncture but aren’t sure what to expect, don’t worry—it’s a gentle, personalised experience designed to support your well-being. Your first session is all about getting to know you, understanding your health concerns, and tailoring treatment to your specific needs.

A Relaxed Chat
The session starts with a friendly and open conversation. I will ask about your current symptoms, overall health, lifestyle, and medical history. This is a chance to talk about anything that’s affecting you—whether it's physical pain, stress, sleep issues, or emotional well-being. Five Element Acupuncture focuses on treating the whole person, so even things you might not think are connected could be relevant.
Diagnosis: More Than Just Symptoms
In addition to discussing your health, I will use traditional diagnostic techniques to get a deeper understanding of what’s going on in your body. This includes:
Pulse Taking: Feeling the quality of your pulse at different points on your wrist helps assess the balance of energy in your body.
Tongue Diagnosis: The color, coating, and shape of your tongue can reveal insights into your overall health.
Your First Treatment
This can include:
Acupuncture Needles: Fine, sterile needles are gently inserted at specific points to restore balance and encourage the body’s natural healing process.
Moxibustion: A warming technique using dried mugwort (moxa) to stimulate acupuncture points and improve circulation.
Magnets: Small therapeutic magnets may be placed on acupuncture points as a needle-free alternative.
TDP Lamp Therapy: A special infrared lamp may be used to warm areas of the body and enhance healing.
Gua Sha: A gentle scraping technique using a smooth tool to improve circulation and relieve tension.
Cupping: Small suction cups may be applied to the skin to release muscle tension and promote detoxification.
Not every technique will be used in your treatments —your treatment will be customized based on your needs and comfort level.
After Your Session
Many people feel relaxed during and after treatment. It is best to not plan anything strenuous after treatment. I may offer lifestyle or self-care recommendations to support your healing between sessions.
Your first Five Element Acupuncture session is the beginning of a journey toward balance and well-being. Each treatment builds on the last, helping your body return to a state of harmony.
